Let's Talk Shop: Get To Know Jim
I became Quinoco’s general manager over six years ago now, but there are always new customers I’ve yet to meet. For this month’s bulletin, our marketing team decided it was time for a little ‘get-to-know-you’ session, as there’s so much more to Jim Hickey outside of Quinoco!
I’ve been fortunate to be in the HVAC industry for over 44 years… I know, I know, I don’t look it ;) I actually first started working at age 14 at a nursery, and it’s probably what started my love of plants and gardening. Back then, I spent my days potting plants, trimming shrubs, cutting grass, and weeding. This is still how I spend most weekends!
If you haven’t guessed, I enjoy the simple things in life: the warm days and cool nights of fall, quiet early mornings before the day truly begins, sharing a laugh over a good comedy, and spending time with my loved ones, especially my new grandbaby.
There are three questions from the marketing team I wanted to end with:
Who is your hero?
Definitely my dad. He’s always been a big inspiration. He taught me the importance of family and how to truly enjoy life, something I hope I’ve passed down to my kids as well.
If your dog could talk, what would he say about you?
I am convinced he’d say there’s nothing better than when I get home and then immediately ask when it’s time for our hike.
What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
Easy. “If you don’t look forward to going to work every day, it’s time for a new job.”
